July 1, 2017 was a significant date in India’s history as it marked implementation of Goods and Services Tax (‘GST’). When the Hon’ble Prime Minister rang midnight bell in Parliament, all Indirect Taxes (except Customs Duty) unified and we became ‘One Nation, One Tax, One Market’. As we approach momentous sixth anniversary of GST, it is imperative to reflect if words ‘Good and Simple Tax’ as coined by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, withstood test of time.
