
New Initiatives under Customs Turant Scheme
We informed about reforms brought under the flagship Customs Turant Scheme such as electronic communication of Shipping Bill & e-Gatepass and faceless e-assessment at Bengaluru and Chennai.
Vide Circular No. 32/ 2020- Customs dated July 6, 2020, CBIC recently undertook following measures:
- Turant Suvidha Kendras at all customs stations
- Turant Suvidha Kendras have to be made operative at all customs stations by July 15, 2020.
- Simplified registration of Importers and Exporters at ICEGATE
- Importers and Exporters are advised to seek registration on ICEGATE portal and conduct their customs clearances through electronic interface. This registration would inter-alia provide following functionalities:
- Management of bank account
- Customs duty payment ledger
- IGST refund status
- Reply to the queries raised

- Registration of Authorized Dealer (‘AD’) code and bank account through ICEGATE
- Application for registration / modification of AD code or updating bank account can be done on ICEGATE.
- Status of approval application can be viewed on ICEGATE portal.
- Deficiency in application would be communicated on ICEGATE portal and Importer can rectify the same on portal itself.
- Passbook copy or bank authorization letter can be submitted online through e-Sanchit.

- Automated debit of Bond after assessment
- ICES will automatically debit Bond if details are provided in first copy of bill of entry.
- Such functionality is introduced to use continuity Bond and avoid repeated submission of Bonds in physical form.
