In June 2005, the World Customs Organization adopted the SAFE Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global supply chain. India, being a signatory to the framework, implemented the Authorized Economic Operator (‘AEO’) Program in 2012. The scheme intends to grant a quality mark which certifies taxpayers as a secure and reliable trading partners.
