Anti-Dumping Sunset Review on Jute Products – International Trade Law Update #43

by | Jul 1, 2021 | Trade Law Updates

On June 28, 2021, DGTR initiated sunset review concerning imports of Jute Products from Bangladesh and Nepal. The scope of the product includes Jute Yarn/twine (multiple folded/cabled and single), Hessian Fabrics, Jute Sacking cloth and Jute Sacking bags.

In this case the applicant domestic industry is fragmented and falls in unorganized sector. The initiation notice is silent on whether the applicant has major proportion of total production in India. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how injury and likelihood of injury examination is done based on limited domestic producer information.

Importers have time till July 13, 2021 to submit information related to product control number and August 4, 2021 to file response.
