by | Jul 27, 2021 | Trade Law Updates

On July 20, 2021, DGTR issued final findings in 2nd sunset review concerning imports of Barium Carbonate from China PR, recommending discontinuance of existing anti-dumping duty.

Barium Carbonate is used for purification of brine solution in caustic soda industry and also used in production of hard Ferrite Ring Magnets, Television Glass Shell, Neutral gloss, Lamps, Heat Treatment Salts and other Barium Salts.

Originally anti-dumping duty was imposed on December 10, 2010 and continued for another 5 years after 1st sunset review in 2016.

While recommending discontinuance of anti-dumping duty, DGTR observed that there have been nil imports from China and as a result, there is neither any injury nor likelihood of injury.

Domestic Industry has the option of preferring an appeal before CESTAT challenging the above final findings within 90 days.
