‘With trade liberalization and globalization, Indian economy is prone to unfair competition. Trade remedy measures seek to address this challenge by allowing domestic producers to file a complaint to remedy adverse effect of imports.
Trade remedy measures generally take form of Anti-Dumping Measures, Countervailing (or Anti-Subsidy) Measures or Safeguard Measures, which seek to eliminate the unfair advantages gained by low-priced and high-volume imports, that cause injury to Indian domestic industry. However, before such measures are imposed, adequate opportunities are provided to all stakeholders to provide Government with relevant information to arrive at correct determination and precise amount of protection.
